Awal pembentukan

Sebelumnya, Jonas Brothers adalah proyek solo anggota band yang paling muda, Nicholas Jonas. Sejak kecil, ia berakting di beberapa pertunjukan teater. Dia pernah menyanyikan lagu berjudul Dear God, yang cepat menjadi hit. Eksekutif Columbia Records mendengar lagu tersebut dan sangat menyukai suara Nick. Kemudian, Nick menandatangani kontrak dengan perusahaan tersebut. Tetapi, setelah eksekutif Columbia Records mengetahui bahwa dia memiliki kakak-kakak yang berbakat dalam musik, sang eksekutif menyuruh mereka menyanyikan salah satu lagu mereka. Karena dia menyukainya, maka kakak beradik Jonas menandatangani kontrak dan membentuk Jonas Brothers.

Pada masa awal kariernya, mereka menjadi band pembuka untuk konser Kelly Clarkson, The Click Five, The Veronicas, dan Backstreet Boys.
Mereka merilis album perdana mereka, It's About Time pada tanggal 8 Agustus 2006. Dalam album itu, mereka menyanyikan 2 lagu dari band asal Inggris, Busted, yakni "Year 3000" dan "What I Go To School For" yang liriknya telah diubah. Columbia Records mulai tidak tertarik untuk mempromosikan band tersebut, sehingga Jonas Brothers berpikiran untuk berganti label. Singel pertama album tersebut adalah "Mandy", lagu tentang mantan pacar dan sahabat vokalis band, Joe Jonas. Musik video untuk lagu tersebut ada 4 buah, 3 buah menjadi cerita bersambung dan 1 buah khusus untuk Yahoo!. Musik video tersebut banyak disukai dan segera menduduki peringkat ke 4 di TRL. Singel kedua mereka, "Year 3000" menjadi favorit di Radio Disney.
Band ini akhirnya memutuskan kontrak dengan Columbia pada awal 2007.

Jonas Brothers (2007-sekarang)

Band tersebut beralih dari Columbia ke Hollywood Records. Kira - kira, pada waktu yang bersamaan, mereka membintangi iklan televisi Baby Bottle Pop dan menyanyikan 2 lagu untuk 2 album yang berbeda, yakni Kids of The Future dan I Wan' Be Like You. Album mereka yang berjudul Jonas Brothers(album) dirilis pada tanggal 7 Agustus 2007 dengan 2 singel, "Hold On" dan "S.O.S.".
Mereka mulai tampil sebagai bintang tamu di Hannah Montana. Mereka juga tampil dalam acara Miss Teen USA 2007. Mereka menyanyi dalam penutupan Disney Channel Games dan menyanyi di AMA. Penampilan terakhir mereka pada tahun 2007 adalah di Dirk Clark's Rockin' New Years Eve.
Mereka juga dinominasikan dalam Grammy 2009 dan berduet dengan Stevie Wonder.
Tour Best of Both Worlds
Mereka menjadi pembuka utama dalam Tur Best of Both Worlds. Mereka juga membintangi Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert, dimana mereka menyanyikan singel baru "When You Look Me In The Eyes", hit mereka "Year 3000", dan duet mereka dengan Miley Cyrus, "We Got The Party".

Mereka memulai tur mereka, Look Me In The Eyes, pada tanggal 31 Januari 2008.

Proyek Lain
Mereka akan membintangi DCOM Disney Channel yang berjudul Camp Rock dan serial TV Disney JONAS. Album ketiga dirilis bulan Juli 2008. Album tersebut berjudul A Little Bit Longer. Selama musim panas 2009, mereka mengadakan world tour.
